Nash UK road trip
UK road Trip where the lads ended their trip at the lakes here with the hope of ending the trip on a high and landing one of our huge carp.
Landing some truly cracking carp up to just under 44lb.. great footage and scenery shots from the boys at Nash.
I think the lakes delivered the goods.
On the 15th November we had Andrew Ellis (AE fisheries) down to net Oak with the help of his team and Plumpton Fishery Students, We went about the task of netting Oak something I thought was near on impossible. Watch this video that Ben from BP milling made, some incredible fish came out in the netting, we lost count of the number of 40s, big 30s and as you can see all the fish were in incredible conditions. If you have seen Andy and his team at work before you will know he has a high level of experience as you will see in this video and we got some incredible praise from one of the best in the industry.
In November 2025, the AE Fisheries team returned to carry out netting operations on both Oak and Steve’s Lake. The objective on Oak was primarily fish removal and stock management, but it also presented a rare opportunity to assess some of the lake’s most elusive residents.
The netting certainly didn't disappoint.
Among the fish encountered was Orca, a carp that had become something of a mystery to many anglers. Even in the net, it was immediately obvious she was carrying an incredible amount of weight and looked every bit the lake's potential record fish.
As part of our fish welfare policy, fish are not routinely weighed during netting operations. Instead, they are processed and returned to the water as quickly as possible to minimise handling and stress. As a result, Orca's true weight remained unknown.
That question was finally answered six months later.
In May 2026, Orca was captured by one of our members and officially weighed at an incredible 52lb 10oz, setting a new lake record for Oak and confirming what the netting team had suspected back in November — she was something very special indeed.
